Arab American University hosted the Independence Championship for 5-a-side football in which Jenin governorate institutions participated. It’s organized by Sports Federation for All under the auspices of the Higher Council for Youth and Sports, Fateh in Jenin Region, and Jenin’s Sports Committee.
This championship is part of the central championship for institutions held in all the West Bank governorates, coinciding with the commemoration of independence.
Eight teams participated in the championship representing national institutions in Jenin. They were divided into two groups, consisting of 4 teams, each group first and second teams qualify for semi-finals.
Chairman of University Board of Directors Dr. Yousef Asfour and University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri honored the Faculty of Science member Prof. Dr. Atef Qasrawi giving him the university shield for his entrepreneur role in scientific research on regional and international levels as he made almost 144 scientific researches.
The honoring was in presence of Jenin’s Governance and member of AAUJ Board of Trustees Ibrahim Ramadan, academic advisor for the Board of Directors and founder president Prof. Dr. Waleed Deep and members of Board of Directors Mr. Ghaleb Hafi, Mrs. Sabah Asfour, Board of Trustees member Deputy Jamal Howel, Fateh Secretary in Jenin Prof. Dr. Noor Aldeen Abu Al-Rub, President Vices and assistants and Faculties Deans.
Her Excellency Governor of Ramallah and Al Bireh Governate Dr. Laila Ghannam said: “Arab American University in Ramallah and Jenin is a model of educational institute with various unique and new specializations in Palestine both in its master and undergraduate degrees. This will give a big boost to fill in the increasing and rapid needs of local community in the tremendous technological and scientific development in various critical areas”.
She added I’m proud of the Arab American University which managed to make its own bath complementary to other Palestinian universities to form together a factory to refine younger generations in many disciplines to lead and service their people and build their independent state after graduating from universities.
