The Administration of Arab American University has emphasized that they took all the precautions since day one of the emergency after the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) to establish a safe environment for employees and students, following the instructions of the Palestinian Ministry of Health that were announced concerning the safety of the Palestinian universities.
During the meeting between Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, the Deans and the faculty members, Prof. Abu Zhuri praised the role of the faculty members in keeping the educational process going through the e-learning system. He appreciated their hard work in keeping the connection with all students and solving any problem they face, and appreciated the awareness of students and their interaction with their professors that contributed to make the e-learning system a successful system.
Prof. Abu Zuhri said: “Following the instructions announced by the Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Ishtayyeh that were directed by President Mahmoud Abbas- President of the State of Palestine, AAUP has managed to complete the emergency period successfully, wisely and with great responsibility. AAUP is now applying all kinds of safety precautions that were stated by the World Health Organization and the Palestinian Ministry of Health on its employees _who did not stop providing educational services to students_ and on all the teaching facilities, classes, laboratories and even the open areas.”
Prof. Abu Zuhri also expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors represented by Dr. Yousef Asfour- the Head of the Board for their great support and responsibility in providing all the safety supplies, in addition to the in-kind support that was provided to the Ministry of Health and to the emergency committees in Jenin and Ramallah.
Moreover, Prof. Abu Zuhri clarified that Arab American University has applied the e-learning system successfully during the emergency period in order to continue providing high quality educational services to its students. This system was of a great success and was welcomed by students, parents and the civil society institutions. Prof. Abu Zuhri also indicated that out of its caring about the safety of its students and employees, AAUP has provided continuous and regular sterilization processes to the university facilities. Now it is an obligation for all employees to wear medical and protective masks and gloves, and social distancing is also applied during the working hours. The university is ready now to apply the safety precautions that were announced by the Ministry of Health when all students are back, to provide a safe and comfortable educational environment.
