Arab American University hosted the last day of Orientation days for high school students, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education in partnership with higher education institutions in five directorates.
13 of the West Bank higher education institutions, universities and colleges, participated in the event. Almost 2500 students came from various schools from the five directorates; Jenin, Qabatiya, Tubas, Tulkarm and Qalqilya.
AAUP Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Abdallah Walweel opened the orientation day activities on behalf of university president. In his speech, expressed his pride to host this guidance meeting, praising the Ministry of Higher Education efforts to organize these important days, where students are invited to choose their university majors by looking at what Palestinian universities offers. Thanking supervising committee in all departments for their efforts to organize this day at the Arab American University
His speech for the visiting students “You’re stand by the two most important stages of your lives and future. Today, you have opportunity to know about the Arab American University and Palestinian universities faculties and specialties, which will make it easier to take the right decision for your future and achieve your desire to study what you want”.
Dr. Walweel asked parents to enhance their children’s tendencies and give them guidance, asking educational institutions to complete parents’ role by giving the right orientation to raise good citizen working to develop our Palestinian society and institutions, to be the basis of our Palestinian state with Jerusalem as capital.
Representative of Ministry of Higher Education Mr. Ayman Al-Houdaly thanked the Arab American University for hosting the final meeting of the Orientation days. He pointed, ministry organizes these days to help students’ transition smoothly from school life into the atmosphere, educational and cultural systems in universities and colleges. Pointing, these activities aims to provide guidance for high school students to introduce them to higher education institutions and accredited disciplines.
He explained, the ministry works using its various programs to improve its students’ success, excellence and creativity in order to enhance their academic excellence in terms of enlightening them of the importance of what we expect from them in participating in developing all fields. Stressing, the ministry is keen on making disciplines meets students educational goals, respond to community and labor market demands.
AAUP President Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri checked participant colleges and universities booths, welcoming them and wishing to continue these meetings for the high school students orientation on specialties offered in universities.
The event had almost 70 visitors school from the five northern directorates in the West Bank. Students visited each university and college corner and got their special publications. In addition, students asked about offered programs and specializations by these institutions. The meeting also included introductory tours on Arab American University campus. Student Affairs Deanship and Public Relations Department volunteers supervised the tours.
