Palestinian Capital Market Authority in partnership with International Finance Corporation (IFC), held a training course for students of Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences at Arab American University participating in corporate the governance competition for Palestinian universities.
During the workshop, students were divided into groups introduced to the competition rules, conditions, how to choose the preliminary study design, search for problems, find realistic and logical solutions, and projects submitting date.
The competition, sponsored by Palestinian Federation of Insurance Companies, offer participating students opportunity to gain experience in writing and presenting the results of evaluating the target corporate governance system, designing the governance preliminary studies, identifying interviews mechanisms, and learning about life experiences through meeting members of Directors Board and executive management.
Five Arab universities are participating in the competition: Arab American University, Birzeit University, Palestine Technical University Khadouri, Al-Quds Open University, and Palestinian National University College. During the competition, solutions are presented for a specialized case study on governance developed by IFC. The first of the two stages internally for each university, the second stage is competitive among the qualified groups from participating universities, until a group win the first place.
Corporate Governance Competition for Palestinian Universities is a success for having a corporate governance course in the Faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences study plans.
