Arab American University of Jenin hosted a scientific day under the title, "Physics Without Borders". This day was organized by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy, it targeted graduate studies students in Physics program, in order to give the students an overview about the latest developments in particle physics, also high energy physics, in order to encourage students to resume classes in physics program.
The head of the Physics Department at the Arab American University, Dr. Muayad Abu Saa ', said that the university is seeking to build a bridge between the students and the most important international institutions in the world. Thus, that would strengthen the relations and provide students with important information. Dr. Saa’ also notified that graduate studies students will present the ATLAS experiment in collaboration with the International Institute for Molecular Physics "CERN".
Moreover, Dr. Mohammed Harb, the lecturer at the University of Oklahoma and who works on the ATLAS experiment in Switzerland, stated that the science day will be held over three days in three Palestinian universities: the Arab American University, Al-Quds, and Birzeit University. He also said that the day's activities include lectures about particles, high power, the basic forces in the universe, the mechanism of the particles discovery, measuring the amount of physical characteristics, and how to discover other fundamental forces in the universe. In addition to a training program about information analysis that is resulted from experiments. The day also includes video conference with scientists who work at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, where the ATLAS experiment is being conducted.
On the other hand, the representative of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Kate Shaw, said that the students’ participation in ATLAS experiment during the scientific day, is considered something interesting. Since they listen to other people experiments, and they have become more encouraged to resume their study of physics, with conducting different research in various topics.
