AAUJ Faculty of Nursing Organizes a Training for the Public and Private Hospitals ICU Nurses

The Faculty of Nursing at the Arab American University in cooperation with the General Administration of Nursing at the Palestinian Health Ministry organized a training course for public and private hospitals nurses to increase their knowledge of the latest developments in nursing of intensive care, patient diagnosis and the way to treat them.

From the training course

28 nurses from the Jenin Governmental Hospital, Tubas Governmental Hospital, Tulkarim Governmental Hospital, Qalqiliya Governmental Hospital, Rafidia Hospital and Nablus Specialist Hospital participated in the training.

The four-day intensive training course lasted 8 hours a day. The first assessment was for intensive care patients, special and critical patients, ECG reading and blood gases, treating patients who suffer from lack of salts and respiratory patients, and advanced artificial respiratory care.

The session was presented by Dr. Basma Salama, Mr. Baha’ Hammad from the Arab American University, Mr. Saleh Abu Lefah, Mr. Mohammed Abu Rajab and Ms. Dunia Tahseen from the Nursing General Administration at Ministry of Health.

The Dean of AAUJ Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Mohammed Asia said: “This training is part of the university philosophy, which is based on openness and partnership with governmental and private institutions. This session, with both the University Faculty of Nursing and the Ministry of Health General Administration of Nursing, came to improve the efficiency of working nurses’ at public and private hospitals and share experiences in everything new in nursing to offer citizens the best services”.

The Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Dr. Imad Abu Khader said it was very special and aimed to enhance the nurses’ expertise in public and private hospitals in providing services to Palestinian patients. The scenarios they done simulated various medical conditions at the simulation laboratory in the University Faculty of Nursing, the first and only one of its kind in Palestine. In addition to training the participants on mechanisms to deal with such cases and take care of them.

At the end of the training course, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Dr. Mohammad Asia, the Assistant Dean Dr. Imad Abu Khader, the Director General of Nursing at the Health Ministry Ms. Najat Duwikat, representatives of the General Administration of Nursing Mr. Ayman Enayah and Mr. Abdullah Bani-Odeh honored the training graduates with certifications of appreciation.
