Out of its social responsibility, AAUP handed the Palestinian Ministry of Health some medical supplies kits among its donation campaign, in order to support the efforts in facing the pandemic that hits this country and the entire world.
Dr. Yousef Asfour- the Head of the Board of Directors and Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President handed Dr. Mai AlKaileh- the Minister of the Ministry of Health 200 medical supplies kits to help the workers in the health sector to continue their hard work in facing the pandemic that the entire world is currently facing, and to help in protecting health workers (doctors, nurses and health workers) all over the country.
Dr. Asfour- the Head of the Board of Directors said that this initiative is part of what the Arab American University considers as social responsibility towards the community and the institutions. He added that AAUP always aims to help the community and especially during these exceptional circumstances that the Palestinian people are facing due to the spread of the new Coronavirus. Dr. Asfour sent his greetings to the “white army” for their great effort in facing the spread of this virus in Palestine.
Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President asked all the private sector institutions to donate and support the health sector in order to protect the Palestinian people during this pandemic. He asserted that all Palestinian people must be aware to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health and take all the precautions to protect their families. Prof. Abu Zuhri added that this support comes among the partnership between the university and the different institutions, and he also indicated that six among the AAUP staff (doctors and nurses) are providing services to the field hospital in Jenin and help the health sector to stop the spread of this virus.
Dr. Mai AlKaileh- the Minister of the Ministry of Health expressed her appreciation to Arab American University and its generous donation. She indicated that the ministry will spread the kits to all different workers in the health sector, and she hoped that all institutions can provide support to limit the spread of the virus. Dr. AlKaileh said that the kits provided from AAUP are helpful and important for all the doctors and nurses who have direct contact with patients and she also said that the ministry will ask for help from the fourth and fifth-year students of the medical faculties to help during this pandemic.
