Arab American University and University of Michigan Signs MoU

Arab American University signed a MoU with the University of Michigan (UM) in the United States of America to establish a research center in sport sciences, exchange scientific expertise in partnership with Nazareth Association

Arab American University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri signed the MoU with Bruce and Joan Bickner Endowed Professor of Sport Management and Co-Chair of the University of Michigan Sport Management Program, Dr. Mark Rosentraub, in presence of University Board of Trustees member Head of Nazareth Association Mr. Waleed Afifi, VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, Director of Nazareth Association Dr. Tariq Shehada, lecturer in Sport Sciences Department Dr. Saba Jarrar, lecturer at Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences Dr. Raed Shomali and the accompanying delegation from the University of Michigan.

The MoU focuses on establishing joint sport sciences research center at the Arab American University and Nazareth city, joint work to develop master program in sport sciences to be taught in the future at the Arab American University. In addition to exchange academic and scientific expertise, make joint sports researches and organize students’ visits.

UM delegation visited Arab American University and Nazareth city, held meetings with related institutions for sporty improvement. They also met Head of Palestinian Olympic Committee Jibril Rajoub, who blessed the project and gave guidance to support the joint work with the University of Michigan.

President of Arab American University Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri stressed on the MoU importance as it will raise the Palestinian university sports sciences to be international, connect us to modern sport sciences in the US to benefit from their academic experiences and establish a sport research center, first of its kind in Palestine in addition to develop a master program in sport sciences.

UM representative Dr. Rosentraub and his associate delegation, praised the great facilities the university provides to enhance university sports academically, skillfully and artistically, during their tour to check AAUJ sports facilities. All of which by building stadium, world-class football field and the biggest multi-purpose gymnasium in Palestine. Stressing, the MoU would be a step into developing sports science in Palestine and improve a modern sports curriculum to study at Arab American University in the future.
