Arab American University hosted Dr. Ronald Becker, American expert in accreditation of higher education institutions in the United States of America, and Dr. Sami Pasha, the Minister of Education and Higher Education Advisor, to discuss institutional accreditation from specialized bodies in the United States.
University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, VP for Planning and Development Dr. Osama Salama, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Zaki Saleh, VP for Training Affairs Dr. Nizam Diab, and his Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Ara, all welcomed the guests.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri gave an overview of the university, its faculties, bachelor and master academic programs, and recently having the first business administration PhD program in Palestine in partnership with Indiana University, Pennsylvania. Mentioning, the university philosophy and constant efforts to create partnerships with international universities to develop its academic programs to keep pace with the world scientific and technological progress.
Dr. Salameh mentioned the Arab American university most significant achievements, its academic programs educational quality and suitability for local and international markets requirements.
Dr. Becker also meet the faculties Deans in a workshop. He presented the idea of institutionalization accreditation by international authorities for Palestinian Universities, top challenges, and available opportunities.
“Currently, the form of the institutionalization accreditation is being determined in cooperation between the Ministry and Palestinian Universities”, said Dr. Basha.
There is only a limited number of Arab universities that is institutionally accredited in the United States.
The American expert and Minister of Education and Higher Education adviser toured the campus, checked the admissions and registration building, and both faculties of dentistry and nursing. Expressing admiration of the university outstanding capabilities offered to students.
