The Board of Trustees discussed the increasing of the financial allocations for the scientific research and for bringing in rare competencies from abroad in the development areas, the improving facilities academically and in the research field and develop new specialities that meet the local and regional market during the regular meeting that was held at the new presidential building at the university campus.
The meeting was headed by Dr. Mohammad Ishtaya the head of the Board of the Trustees, Dr. Yousef Asfour, the member of the Board, Professor Mahmoud AbuMwais, the university president, the vice-president of the Board, Dr. Jihad Al-Wazeer and all the other members of the Board.
Dr. Ishtaya opened the meeting by appreciating the members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees and their efforts in developing the university and achieving many distinguish achievements in the academic researches and the infrastructures. He said that the university and since its establishment in 2000 is walking in great steps in the academic fields, the development projects and the faculties opening and building. The university seeks to be a unique model between the universities by implying the current concepts with a Palestinian vision.
The council listened to the report that was provided by the university president about developing the university academically during the period between the semesters from the number of the students, the employees, the specialities, the programs and the need to start new specialities accordingly to the local and Arabic and national market need>
Professor AbuMwais also mentioned the effect of the ISO on the academic and administrative development, and how the university started combined programs with cooperation with abroad universities for Master degrees. He added some explanation about the enhanced steps for the research and the scientific production in the university.
The council also showed the academic programs that the university teaches and that meets the market’s need, the council asserted on enhancing the local and international relations with the universities and encouraged the student exchange process. The council asserted on the importance of the training of the students who are about to graduate in the local and outside institutions in all specialities.
The council announced the possibility of providing scholarships for the Arab students who want to study at the Arab American University in the near future.
During the meeting, they discussed the academic and research cases where the head of the board of directors, Dr. Yousef Asfour asserted on putting the scientific research one of the priorities of the board and he encouraged on the research and on bringing in the academic staff from outside. He asserted on the readiness of the board to provide what it takes to develop the infrastructure with the top standards to walk with the academic development.
The heads of the Boards of Directors and Trustees appreciated the efforts that everybody does to develop the university to serve the academic process. They appreciated Junin’s Mayor Mr. Ibrahim Ramadan’s role and efforts in embracing the university and providing the best atmosphere and security for the students, academics, researchers and visitors. And they thanked all who help to provide the best services for honoured and needy students.
