Arab American University Ramallah campus hosted a seminar for public sector and civil society organizations to discuss establishing a research center for water and climate change.
Experts in water and climate change, Water Authority representatives, Department of Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Local Government, Water and Waste Water department in Nablus’s Municipality, representatives of academic institutions and representatives of GIZ International Water Program, all attended the lecture.
During the lecture, Arab American University lecturer in Geographic Information Systems Department Dr. Waleed Sabbah previewed the center’s vision, objectives and the needs of local community, governmental and civil institutions for research, training and studies on water, climate, environment and agriculture change. A number of research topics were discussed to complete this center establishing objectives.
At the end, some participants formed a volunteer advisory committee to review and write the centers vision, message and work plan, responsibilities were distributed to complete the center’s objectives, research and training goals within three weeks. The Advisory Committee consisted of 15 experts representing governmental, academic and civil institutions.
