A Lecture for Postgraduate Students at the University in Ramallah Campus About Borders and Settlement

Dr. Dalal Erekat Vice President for International Relations Affairs, welcomed the experts from the Negotiations Affairs Department and thanked Mr. Ashraf Al-Khatib, Ms. Sana Hassna and Ms. Fatina Al-Houdali for accepting the invitation to give a lecture to postgraduate students.

Al-Houdali gave a lecture about settlements and borders that in the negotiations files, and the development of land confiscation policies since 1967, as she mentioned the tools of the Israeli negotiator as in settlement, and deepened the presentation and analysis of this strategic policy in the Israeli incursion and the confiscation of land through settlements, which contains more than 650 thousand settlers in the West Bank and 250 thousand settlers in East Jerusalem alone, and noted that this is a strategic tool used by Israeli governments to dodge during negotiations, noting that the last negotiation session was held in 2007, the lecture also contained discussion and questions about the subject.

Dr. Erekat thanked the experts for the rich lecture and discussion. As she emphasized the need to increase political awareness especially among postgradute students. She noted they need to learn and get support from Negotiation Affairs Department and what they obtain from documents, maps and publications to be used as references for postgraduate students' research, especially for students in conflict resolution and Strategic planning and fundraising programs.

This lecture is part of a series for the negotiations in its final status that aims to deepening the knowledge of the important aspects for every Palestinian citizen. The university aims to encourage postgraduate students to address these sensitive and important topics in their research to come out with new topics to serve the national cause through Research production.
