Publication ceremony of the poeter Manal Daraghmeh “Stinging Times”, at the Arab American University, collaborating with Jenin’s Culture Governorate, and in partnership with cultural saloon “Yamam”, Palestinian Female Authors Forum “Mada” and Friends of Community Vision foundation.
Attended the ceremony; Arab American University President Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs Faleh Abu Arra, Director of Jenin Culture Directorate Amal Ghazal, Jenin Governor Assistant Ahmed Al-Qassam, university staff, representatives of governmental and private institutions and group of intellectuals, writers and poets.
It started by President Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Abu Ara, who welcomed attendees and congratulated poet Manal Daraghmeh, member of the Arab American University administrative board, for her achievement. “It’s not surprising for the university to embrace creatives because creativity has no limits”, he said. Stressing on AAUJ support for its employees and students to be creative. Pointing, the university always embraced the local community in all its spectrum and activities. Stressing, its doors are widely open to all. To finalize complementing Manal’s achievement.
Jenin Governor Assistant, Ahmed Al-Qassam, congratulated the poet Manal Basim in the name of Jenin Governor, Major Ibrahim Ramadan. Noting, Palestinian people should be proud of the achievements of Palestinian intellectuals, especially Manal, it’s enriching addition to the Palestinian National Library.
As for the Head of Jenin Culture Directorate Amal Al-Ghazal, she thanked the Arab American University for hosting and sponsoring the ceremony. Praising, the university in supporting literary and cultural scene with all its components and scents. She congratulated Manal Darghmeh, saying “I called your Divan Travelling Stations because it took to a world of fantasy and beauty, confronting ourselves with our reality”.
Head of Arabic Language and Media Department at the Arab American University. Mohammed Abu Al-Rob presented his critique, observations and recommendations to Manal Daraghmeh's divan. Then Manal presented segments of her poetry.
The ceremony included short movie about the University and another about the author’s life, folklore Zagal piece, and concluded with distributing copies of the Divan and signing it.
The “Bitter Times” Divan gathers 30 prose poems. It is Daraghmeh’s first finished work. Divan cover skillfully done, it includes several unique paintings, and will participate in major Arab and European exhibitions. Also presented at major known Arab and international libraries.
