The University Hosts the Adviser to the Prime Minister Dr. Khayriah Rasas

She praised the university and its distinguished academic role

The Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Khayriah Rasas visited Arab American University in Ramallah campus, where the chairman of boards of directors Dr. Yusuf Asfour, welcomed her along with the University President Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, and the Academic Advisor Prof. Walid Dieb, and Head of Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Orah, and the Manger of Medical Center Dr. Jumana Jaradat.

The visit of Dr. Khayriah Rasas Advisor to the Prime Minister to the University

During her visit, Prof. Abu Zuhri gave a detailed presentation to the Prime Minister's Advisor about the University's goals, its vision of higher education and its academic programs in the PhD, MA and BA. He assured that the University always seeks through its surveys of the Palestinian market and the Arab market in the 1984 territories to enhance new academic programs, and to establish partnerships with other universities, institutes regional and international scientific centers, to exchange experiences, organize student scientific visits, academic exchanges and joint scientific research.

The Chairman of the Board Dr. Asfour, reviewed the role of the University's Board of Directors in providing all the necessary material resources to develop the infrastructure of the University's main campus in Jenin and also Ramallah campus, in addition to establishing scientific laboratories and equipping them with the best equipment. He explained that since the beginning, the Council has been confident about Palestinian capabilities and has endeavored in spite of the difficulties that accompanied the stages of establishing the university to invest in the Palestinian people, in recognition of the importance of investing in human resources and developing Palestinian capacities. To provide the professionals to lead the Palestinian institutions with transparency, which will reflect positively on the lives of citizens in all areas.

For her part, the Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Rasas, thanked the Universitys’ administration for the good reception. As she was pleased and happy to visit the University campus in Ramallah and to know more about the availability of academic world-class level programs and scientific laboratories and appreciated the efforts of providing the new updated serves for the students to enhance their skills.

As she assured for the importance of the university as an economic investment in the academic sector, the necessity of competition in education, which emphasis academic quality, and links education with the economy, and she informed the university to focus on attracting students from outside Palestine and encouraging the culture of scientific research in quality academy fields that are not available in Palestine, and is needed in the Palestinian market.

She added that the government is legislating and designing higher policies, but it cannot plan for Palestinian universities. Universities should work on continuous plans to develop their academic reality and create programs that go along with the higher policies.

During the meeting, many ideas were discussed regarding how to develop the university academically, and the steps that should be taken constantly to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the development process.

During the visit, Dr. Rasas took a tour in the university - Ramallah campus, where she visited university's classrooms, laboratories and dental clinics. She expressed her admiration for the university's potential for faculty members and university students.
