The University hosts the President of the Constitutional Court in a lecture entitled " Characteristics and Features of the Democratic Constitution "

The President of Arab American University, Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, welcomed the President of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Haj Qassem, who was hosted at a lecture organized by the Faculty of Law entitled "Characteristics and Features of the Democratic Constitution".

Prof. Abu Zuhri, Present of the University presented an overall presentation about the university's achievements, especially in academic levels, where programs are developed for bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees according to the needs of labor market, as he assured the importance of the Constitutional Court and praising the role played by the court.

The President of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haj Qassem expressed his admiration for Arab American University, and gave a detailed explanation of the Constitutional Court and its establishment and highlighted its achievements.

After the welcoming, a lecture entitled "Characteristics and Features of the Democratic Constitution" was held at the Faculty of Law for its students in the presence of the Assistant President of Community Affairs Dr. Iyad Dalbeh, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr. Ghassan Alian and a number of faculty members. Where the president of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Mohammed Al-Haj Qassem, referred to the definition of the Constitution and the general theory of the Constitution. As he pointed out the constitution aim is to protect the people’s rights, which is a basic condition in modern systems. Explaining that what distinguishes the modern state from other countries is the foundations and elements set in the development of the Constitution.

As he mentioned the most prominent democratic features in the Constitution, that is the importance of establishing the constitution on the basis of full and equal citizenship and recognition that the people are the source of authority. Also adapted the principle of Authority separation regarding this constitution. The constitution must be based on human rights and individual freedoms, the importance of monitoring the constitution and adapt the peaceful sequence of authority.

Professor Qassim assured the importance of teaching the constitution in Palestinian universities, and that this is not limited to theories, but must apply the general theory of the Constitution.

At the end of the lecture, questions and inquiries were opened by students and members of the Faculty of Law.
