On June 1, 2014, the Arab American University- Jenin (AAUJ) will host a two-day international conference on ‘Conflict Transformation and Peace-Building in Palestine: Challenges and Future Trends’ with broad local and international participation. Dr. Mufid Qassoum, AAUJ Vice-president for International Relations, stated that the conference seeks to make the Arab American University an internationally recognized platform for academic and scientific research, enabling it to reach the international public opinion and decision makers with key messages regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Dr. Wael Abu Hassan, a faculty member of the Allied Medical Sciences/ Department of Health Sciences, recently published one of his reviewed articles on “Quality of Life Assessment for the Enhancement of Psychiatric Health Care Delivery: Psycho medical perspective” in the Iraqi Journal of Psychiatry - Alwarkaa\', which is considered to be one of the Iraq Ministry of Health and National Mental Health Council publications.

In its effort of increasing its capacity for externally-funded projects, the office of Planning and Development is conducting an intensive course on Proposal Writing to about 20 employees who are in the process of or expected to write developmental and research projects for the University. The four-day intensive course is taught by Ms. Sara Capper of AMIDEAST-Ramalla who is a graduate of Arabic Studies from Georgetown University in Washington. She served as the Chief grant writer at the AMIDEAST Washington office and has been teaching this course for over six years.

Under the auspices of the Palestinian Ministry of Labor and the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy, the Palestinian Federation of Industries (PFI) along with the United Nations Development Programme/ Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) welcome your participation in the First Palestinian National Job Fair 2008, that will be held from 24th to the 25th of June, 2008 at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society halls in Al Bireh / Ramallah.

Mr. Adel Abu Hammad the occupational therapist at Health Sciences Department and the Allied Medical Sciences recently presented a lecture about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at Farah Center for Rehabilitation-Nablus. The lecture was held at Al-Shekh Khleefa Ben Zayed for Vocational Rehabilitation on 7th of November 2007. CBR workers from northern areas of West Bank, Students of Social Work at Al-Quads Open University, and the staff of Farah Center attended the lecture and participated actively in making the program successful.

In an effort to help revive and preserve the knowledge of traditional Arabic and Islamic medicine, the Galilee Society Research and Development Center, in cooperation with the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, Jordan and Al-Antaki Center for Herbal Medicine Ltd, and with sponsorship of Delass co., Jordan and the WHO, hosted an international conference on the current state of research and practice in this field. This three-day conference took place in Amman, Jordan during August 8-10, 2007, and included an exhibition and poster session.

Dr. Walid Basha from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences recently represented the Arab American University in the Regional Forum on Local Water Governance, which took place in Amman, Jordan on June 6 -7, 2007. The forum which held under the theme “Water is everybody’s business” was called for by EMPOWERS partnership under the patronage of His Royal Majesty King Abdullah II. Furthermore, it was held in the presence of governmental representatives of Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria and Sudia Arabia. Beside many others from the EU and USA.

Dr. Wael Abu Hassan the Assistant Professor at the Allied Medical Sciences has published with Arndt Bussing, Peter F. Matthiessen, and Thomas Ostermann one of their original works on Spirituality, religiosity, and dealing with illness in the internationally reputed Saudi Medical Journal. The study was designed to investigate the impact of spirituality and religiosity (SpR) in Arabic patients with a Muslim background as compared to patients from Western Germany (Christians as well as non beleivers).
