The two researchers at Arab American University, Abeer Abdullah Zaarour (Abu Moyes), specialized in computer science and Maysem Mohammed Ahmed Abdullah, specialized in physics, won the Palestine Islamic Bank Prize for Scientific Research ranking second and third place.
They announced the winners and gave them the financial awarded during the ceremony held at Palestine Polytechnic University in the presence of PLO Executive Committee member Mr. Ahmad Al-Tamimi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Palestine Polytechnic University Mr. Refat Tahboub, Director General of the Bank Mr. Bayan Qassem and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Creativity and Excellence Eng. Adnan Samara.
The Researcher Aseel Kmal from Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at Arab American University, received the Scotland award for City Planning using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She presented her master's thesis at the University of Dundee, one of the best universities in the world. The title of her thesis was "Using Geographic Information Systems Techniques in Assessing the Possibility and Accessibility of Entering Green Places in Dundee".
Kmal concluded with a master's degree in excellence. Her research focused on the mechanism of employing geographic information systems in evaluating the accessibility and possibility of entering public gardens places and green spaces in Dundee city for the sake of self-recreation, reducing stress and maintaining the mental and physical health of the residents of the region.
A Teacher at Anastasia Qarwani Language Center and a student at the Intercultural Communication and Literature Program at the University, has been nominated for the short listed tenth edition of the “Etisalat - Child Book” Award, one of the most prestigious awards for children's literature in the Arab world.
