AAUP hosted a training course organized by the International Legal Institution (ILF), entitled “Criminal Defense”, targeting a number of lawyers. The course duration was 4 days a total of 20 hours.
This course is part of the cooperation between the Faculty of Law at the University and the International Legal Institution where a cooperation agreement was signed between both parties regarding legal clinics, workshops and training courses targeting law graduates and its students.
The course aims to develop lawyer’s abilities in how to represent before the Palestinian regular courts concerning criminal matters. Where the course illustrates form the beginning as when the accused is arrested by the police, then appears before the courts, until the appeal cassation.
The University’s President Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri welcomed a delegation from the Palestinian 1948 territories, academics and jurists in the field of law to enhance communications and develop a study plan dedicated for students from the 48 territories to study at AAUP - Faculty of Law.
The meeting was attended by VP of Academic Affairs Dr. Zaki Saleh, VP of Training Affairs Dr. Nizam Dhiab, VP of Planning and Development Dr. Moath Sabhah and VP of Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arrah, Assistant VP of Administrative and Financial Affairs Eng. Bara Asfour, Dean of Faculty of Law Dr. Ghassan Alian, Director of the University's liaison office in Nazareth, Dr. Mofid Gassoum, and PR Officer Raed Abu Bakr and Samah Duhadi.
The Office of the Assistant President of the University for Community Affairs, in partnership with the Faculty of Law, and in cooperation with the Palestinian Initiative to Deepen the Global and Democratic Dialogue (MIFTAH), organized a workshop about the draft copy of the Palestinian Constitution to introduce it to the youth and their rights.
The workshop was opened by the Assistant President of the University for Community Affairs Dr. Iyad Delbeh he welcomed the audience and the coordinator of (Miftah) in Jenin Farha Abu Al-Haija, the Attorney Nora Sobh, the interviewer Fathi Al-Natour, faculty members and students from Faculty of Law. As he assured the importance of this workshop, especially that there are courses that studies the Palestinian constitution.
