The Launching of International STEM Program in its Palestinian Version at the University

The launching was during the ceremony, that was attended by the VP of Training Affairs Dr. Nizam Diab, Representative of Ministry of Education Mr. Murad Abed Al-Ghani, Dean of Faculty of Sciences Dr. Mua’yad Abu Saa, Faculty members, representatives from schools of directorates of education and student and teachers participants.

This program is implemented by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Palestinian universities, in order to enhance the quality of education and improve its outputs. The program aims to encourage student’s interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, it also contributes in building knowledge and enhancing their abilities in exploration, investigation, research and problem solving.

The ceremony was opened by the Dean of Faculty of Sciences Dr. Mua’yad Abu Saa. As Dr. Nizam Diab VP for Training Affairs gave a speech and welcomed the audience and assured the University's keenness to spread knowledge and education through extracurricular activities and encourages such scientific programs, which enhances the capabilities of students, noting that the university opens its doors to organize all activities that benefit the community.

The representative of the Ministry of Education Mr. Murad Abed Al-Ghani thanked the University and stressed the ministry's keenness to improve the quality of education and outputs, pointing out the importance of the participation of Palestinian universities in such programs, where the students can benefit from the experience of the supervisors. He added that this program focuses on increasing students' involvement and enhancing their motivation towards learning according to their mental abilities and desires in social interaction based on their knowledge, strategies and experiences.

The Lecturer Mr. Anan Hussain from the Physics Department -Faculty of Sciences gave a detailed explanation of the program. He said that the program provides an opportunity to overcome the challenges that students face and ensure a better future, stressing the importance of this program which seeks to integrate scientific and technological education rather than the traditional education. It also works on developing students' interests in studying disciplines in science, mathematics, engineering and technology, as he addressed the methods of the program implementation at the university.
