Sunday, March 15, 2015

The University revived the Annual Palestinian Environment Day that comes at the 5th of March by planting tens of Carob, Pine, Almond and Olive trees at the campus. This activity was in collaboration with the Environmental Education Centre / the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Lands.
60 volunteering students along with the Vice-President for the Community Affaairs, Dr. Nitham Thiab have started working on planting trees. Also Faculty members from the Arabic Language and Media Department and the Agriculture Department staff all helped in this great work.

Dr. Thiab said: “The University is located in a unique environmental position that helps it in being environment friendly and green by greening all the areas at the campus and enhancing the volunteering work among the students”.

He also indicated that when students themselves plant trees in their university, this will make them cling more with their land and care for it. The celebration on Environment Day by planting trees holds educational dimensions for students, and enhances their environmental orientations.
The Executive Manager for the Environmental Education Centre, Mr. Semon Awad expressed his happiness when he saw the green areas at the University campus decorated by the Olive trees. He also appreciated the university cooperation and role in being a unique model in preserving the environment.
