Arab American University welcomed a delegation from the Palestinian Labor Council coming from Dubai and the northern Emirates. The delegation visited the university accompanied by Eng. Zuhair Hijjawi- a Board of Directors Member aiming to see the university and to have an idea about its academic programs, researches and its different training centers. In addition, they discussed the opportunities of future collaboration in some joint-interest fields.
Prof. Ali Zeidan AbuZuhri- the university President, the vices president and assistants to the president along with number of Faculty Deans were in the reception of the delegation.
AAUP announced that it started teaching the Doctor of Optometry program in Ramallah Campus. This program will focus on eye primary care and early detection of eye diseases in Palestine, where lots of people face optical problems_ according to studies and statistics from the World Health Organization.
Doctor of Optometry Program is considered to be one of the distinguish programs that AAUP offers under collaboration with State University of New York (SUNY) which is one of the prestigious universities in the United States of America.
AAUP also asserted that there will be a meeting between faculty members from SUNY with the enrolled students in this program through video conference during the next week, aiming to discuss the studying plan and teaching techniques.
Arab American University honored the heads of the different administrative departments in the university as an appreciation and acknowledgment for their continuous effort in improving the administrative work and serving the academic process in the university
The honoring ceremony was attended by Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and his vice presidents and assistants.
Prof. Abu Zuhri appreciated the efforts of the head of the departments and their work to provide the best services for AAUP students, the staff and the local community. Prof. Abu Zuhri also appreciated the continuous support that happens between all departments and faculties of the university.
In a ceremony that was attended by Dr. Nizam Diab- the VP for Training Affairs, Dr. Saba’ Jarrar- the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Mr. Tariq Alawneh- the Head of the Education in Tulkarem and some other faculty members of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, the Faculty of Sport Sciences honored the distinguish students of class of 2016, school principles, the physical education trainers and teachers of the schools in the Palestinian land of 1948 and schools of Jenin, Tubas and Qabatya, in addition to some of the sport gyms representatives.
Accredited by the Global Council for Arbitration and Law, the Continuing Education Center in AAUP graduated the participants in the 2nd Arbitration, Dispute and Contracts course, with 30 credit hours.
Dr. Khalid Attyeh- the Head of the Continuing Education Center said that this course targeted people who are working in special fields like engineering, finance, contractors and people who work in resolving conflicts. He also indicated that this course focused on the Palestinian law, introduction to the international laws, arbitration procedures, the response of arbitrators and appeal procedures in addition to the introduction to contracts, international contracts and its terms.
Sport Hall in AAUP hosted the first basketball game for the Palestinian team in Palestine against the Sri Lanka team among the second round of the Asia Basketball Qualifiers.
The game ended in a historical winning for the Feda’i team with a score of 102 against 60 to Sri Lanka team. The Sport Hall in AAUP is the only home court field in Palestine that is accredited by the Basketball Asian Federation, and for this game AAUP had all the preparations done. Congratulations to our team.
During the meeting between Prof. Waleed Deeb – the Academic Advisor of the Board of Directors and the Founding President and Dr. David A. Heath- the President of the College of Optometry of the State University of New York (SUNY) with the presence of other faculty members, SUNY welcomed the launching of the Doctor of Optometry Program in AAUP in Palestine.
During the meeting, they discussed the launching of the Doctor of Optometry program in AAUP to be complementary to the work of ophthalmologists, not a substitute or a competitor to them. Dr. Heath congratulated the Arab American University for this achievement that will enhance and improve the services provided in the primary eye care field in Palestine.
During the meeting, they also discussed the visit schedule of the faculty members of the College of Optometry in SUNY to AAUP to start teaching in the Doctor of Optometry program.
Arab American University hosted the technical meeting before the international basketball game to supervise all the final arrangements for the game between the Palestinian team and Sri Lanka team that will take place Monday in the Sport Hall in AAUP.
With the participation of many universities from Asia and Europe, Arab American University has participated in the Eurasia Higher Education Summit (Eurie) 2020 that was held in Istanbul- Turkey from Feb. 19th – Feb. 21st.
The Palestinian Basketball federation and Arab American University both discussed the needed preparations for the final game between the Palestinian team “Al Feda’i” against Sri Lanka team among the basketball qualifiers of the Asian basketball championship.
Mr. Ibrahim Habash- the Head of the Palestinian Basketball Federation visited AAUP and Eng. Bara Asfour- the Assistant to the President was in his reception along with Mr. Fathi Imour- the Public Realtions Manager, Mr. Islam Abbas- a member of the federation and a professor in the Faculty of Sport Sciences in AAUP and Mr. Uday Daragmeh- the Director of Sports Facilities in AAUP.
