AAUP was the first Palestinian university to provide the TLD device among its philosophy to build a safe training environment for its student, as the Radiography Department in the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in AAUP has provided this device in order to measure the X-Ray dose that students are exposed to during the practical training.
The Thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) is a device to measure the X-Ray doses that individuals either Medical Imaging Technicians or students in their practical training can be exposed to. TLD work depends on measuring the ionizing radiation by measuring the intensity of the visible light that comes from Calcium Fluoride and Lithium Fluoride crystals when being heated.
Represented by Dr. Moayad Abu Saa’ – VP for Academic Affairs and Dr. Dalal Iriqat- VP for International Relations, AAUP participated in the UniMed General Assembly Meetings for the Mediterranean Universities Union in Rome.
During the meeting, participants discussed different issues including the collaboration between universities in the northern and southern of the Mediterranean in order to find solutions and put joint strategies to direct researches and projects for the benefit of the Mediterranean area.
The Palestinian Federation for Racquet Games concluded the Palestinian Badminton Championship 2019 that was hosted in the closed sport hall in AAUP.
In the presence of Mr. Uday Daraghmeh- the Director of Sports Facilities and the Head of the Palestinian Federation for Racquet Games, Mr. Naser AbuHabib- the Assistant Secretary-General of the Olympic Committee, Eng. Bara Asfour- the Assistant to the President, Dr. Saba’ Jarrar- the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Mr. Fathi Imour- the PR Manager, Dr. AbdelRahman Nuerat- the Head of the Federation and Mr. Ya’qoub Al Issa- the Badminton Secretary General, the championship activities has concluded.
In a ceremony organized by the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties/ Association of Arab Universities
In a ceremony in Alexandria- Egypt, organized by the General Secretariat of the Scientific Society of Arab Nursing Faculties/ affiliated to the Association of Arab Universities, the Faculty of Nursing at AAUP – Palestine, has won the Distinguish Institution Award for the year 2019 superior to 115 other nursing faculties registered in the association.
Dr. Mohammad Asia- the Assistant to the President of Medical Schools and Dr. Imad Abu Khader- the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing have received the award in the ceremony that was attended by Arab universities representatives and the head and members of the Association of Arab Universities.
Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President welcomed a delegation from the Social Youth Center of Jenin camp. The delegation contained Mr. AbdelRaheem Farhat- the Head of the Center and other members of the center visited the university to enhance collaboration in sports and youth aspects.
Prof. Ali Zeidan AbuZuhri- the University President explained during the meeting the readiness of the university to collaborate for the benefit of the center and the youth in the university. He added that the sports village in the university is always ready to provide services for the local community including athletes and gyms in the governorate of Jenin and in Palestine in general.
Under the auspices of Mr Akram Rjoub- Jenin Governor, and with the attendance of Academic and Administrative staff, representatives from directorates of Local Government, Jenin Agriculture, Culture, Environmental Quality Authority, Global Environment, Faqo’a Village Council, Wildlife Association in Bet Sahour, Security Services representatives and Official and Environmental institutions, AAUP hosted the lunching and publication ceremony of a book entitled “Field Guide of the Biodiversity in Faqo’a Mountains”
The “Field Guide” book was prepared and written by a specialized researchers team who have observed the biodiversity in Faqo’a Mountains series. The introduction of the book explains the Palestinian nature in general and Faqo’a Mountains and Marj bin Amer in specific. The book also covered the biodiversity, the plants, birds, wild animals, reptiles and arthropods in the area by briefing what was found and attaching them to their English and Scientific names.
AAUP sent two of its students from the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences (Nor AlDeen Abu Hasan and Husam Frehat) to Powiślańska University in Poland to study for the fall semester of the academic year 2019/2020. This chance was given to students through the student academic mobility that is provided by Erasmus Plus program.
This opportunity of student mobility will enable students to learn more about other cultures during their time in Poland for four months. They will get to know other students of different backgrounds and cultures and this will strengthen their personalities and teach them new skills.
This mobility through Erasmus Plus was the first in AAUP, and it is just the beginning of other academic, staff and student mobility in the future.
Hassib Al-Sabbagh Center for Information Technology Excellence in AAUP has organized HULT Prize 2020 competition with the participation of 25 teams from all faculties. This competition helps participants to try to find solutions and create entrepreneurial companies with positive effect on the environment.
Dr. Nizam Diab- the VP for Training Affairs started the competition, which was organized with HULT Prize team, by welcoming guests and judges committees which contain professional members from universities and Palestinian institutions. Dr. Diab explained that this competition is a great opportunity for ambitious students and will give them the chance to come up with creative projects that can compete internationally. He also talked about the importance of creativity for Palestinian students and youth, and asserted that this is the path to success.
The Deanship of Student Affairs in AAUP organized a cultural competition entitled “Minds Challenge” between faculties. The competition aims to improve students’ general information and create competitive environment. The first round was between the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences.
D. Bashar Draghmeh- the Dean of the Deanship of Student Affair started the competition by asserting on the importance of the extracurricular activities that help in improving students personalities. He said that the goal of this activity is to explore the mind abilities and the general information of students. It will also help in strengthening relations between faculties and creating a team to represent the university in any future local or regional cultural competitions.
The Faculty of Sciences in AAUP has organized a lecture entitled “Arab Islamic Medicine: between Traditions and Scientific Research” and hosted Dr.Bashar Sa’d – a Researcher in Biology and member of the Faculty of Sciences staff. The lecture was attended by Deans, Head of Departments and university students.
Dr. Seba Shank – the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences started the lecture by welcoming the audience and explaining that this lecture is one of the series lectures that will be organized by the scientific committee of the faculty. Those lectures enhance the scientific relations between other departments and faculties in the university. Dr. Shanak also introduced Dr. Bashar Sa’d indicating that he was one of the first staff who joined AAUP, he has many scientific researches and hold the degree of professorship.
