Prof. Waleed Deeb- the Academic Advisor of the Board of Directors and the Founding President announced the signing of academic relations agreement with the University of L'Aquila to start new partnership. This agreement_ that was during Prof. Deeb’s visit to the University of L'Aquila_ included the teaching of some professors of University of L'Aquila at the Data Sciences master program in AAUP during the spring semester of the academic year 2019/2020
Prof. Deeb clarified that this partnership will give a chance for students to travel to Italy during their last semester to study applied courses there and finish their thesis depending on the scientific results that they get.
During his visit, Prof. Waleed Deeb went into a tour visiting the faculties and departments of the university to study the possibility of expanding partnership to other programs.
As part of the social responsibility that Arab American University greatly encourages, the Dentistry Students at the university organized awareness and examination field trips for over 300 school students in the Jordan Valley. Some of the school students needed further treatment and were transferred to continue their free treatment in the clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry.
A European Union funded training project entitled “National Efficiency Enhancement in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation” was launched in the University of Granada in Spain. Eight students from (Masters of Conflict Resolution and Masters of Intercultural Communications) of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at AAUP participated in the training course, along with four BA students from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Arts from Hebron University.
This training course comes as part of Erasmus project that aims to enhance the research capabilities in the conflict resolution and reconciliation aspects. AAUP was represented by Dr. Ayman Yousef, Dr. Nahid Habiballah and Ms. Roula Shahwan- the Manager of Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center and the Project Manager.
Siwar Mahameed and Malak Shalabi, students at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in AAUP have won the prize of 8000$ in the final contest of Ijada project for leading businesses. Hassib Al-Sabbagh Center in AAUP has supported their project “Soft Landing” that was supervised by Dr. Amer Jaroshi, Mohammad Salahat and Waleed Abu Samra. This project was implemented under participation with the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences.
Prof. Mohammad Ascia- the Assistant to the President for the Medical Faculties Affairs, and the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences congratulated both students. Dr. Ascia asserted on the importance of implementing this project and other medical research projects that provide care services for patients and individuals. The goal is to transfer the researches into entrepreneurial project for the benefit of the Palestinian community.
AAUP hosted Bader AlHuda Khan- an international expert on a workshop about e-learning. The workshop aimed to concentrate on the modern orientation of e-learning in the institutions of the higher education. Many of the interested academics and others attended the workshop.
Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu-Zuhri- the University President, Dr. Mo’ayad Abu Saa’ – the VP for the Academic Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Owais- the Head of e-learning Committee were on the reception of the international expert. Prof. Abu Zuhri explained the training techniques of AAUP and how the university always seeks to develop and expand the e-learning. Additionally, Prof. Abu Zuhri talked about the university and its BA, Master and PhD degrees.
“Qatari Newspaper Al Raya” published news about the TV broadcasting training course that was hosted and organized by AAUP as part of “Al Jazeera Ambassadors” initiative that is supervised by Al Jazeera Media Institute.
The Faculty of Law in AAUP organized a lecture about the “Challenges Facing the Waqf Funds in Palestine” where it hosted Mr. Mahmoud Aabed – the Director of Registering andDocumentation in the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs
Dr. Khair Al-Deen Talib- the Head of the Fiqeh and Law Department in AAUP opened the lecture by welcoming the guests, and asserting the importance of this lecture to understand the Waqf and public properties and how it is related to our Palestinian reality.
The Deanship of Student Affairs in AAUP organized a fair for the handcrafts and drawings of students aiming to encourage students and support their talents.
Students of the Interior Architecture program in AAUP that is offered as a collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona – Italy, organized a field trip to the Palestinian museum with their Professor Christien Aloush Hadeed as part of their practical project in the course of Design Elements.
This field trip will help the Interior Architecture students in understanding the infrastructure of the Palestinian culture along with understanding the Palestinian art.
Eng. Rinad Shqairat, who teaches the Design Elements course at AAUP, suggested such a field trip to implement the knowledge that students got through their theoretical study. Students had the chance to know some of the Artists, who were part of the museum, the materials they used and the elements and techniques of their arts.
A delegation of academics, administrators and students from AAUP participated in the virtual exchange workshop that was held in Ramallah and organized under collaboration with the European- Palestinian Cooperation Office and the Mediterranean Universities Union. Mr. Marsilio Scalisi – the Head of the Mediterranean Universities Union network, Dr. Nidal Jayousi- the Head of Erasmus Office, representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and representatives from the Palestinian universities all attended the workshop.
Representations for projects and its techniques were discussed during the workshop along with a discussion about the chances for future cooperation concerning the virtual exchange and how to encourage it in Palestine.
