The Arab American University hosted the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Sulaiman Zuhairi in a lecture organized by the Assistant President Office for Community Affairs, that aimed students from Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
The lecture was opened by Dr. Iyad Dalbeh, the Assistant President for Community Affairs. He said that the university hosts experts and specialists to transfer their practical experiences to the students in order to benefit from them in practical life.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Sulaiman Zuhairi said Arab American University has joined the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), where the university will benefit in terms of scientific research training, both academically and students.
The President of Arab American University Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri welcomed the Executive Chairman of the Industrial Cities and Industrial Areas Authority of the Ministry of National Economy, Dr. Ali Shaath, who visited the university to present a lecture for students specialization in geographic information systems GIS about the relationship of specialization in industrial cities.
During the reception Prof. Abu Zuhri talked about the university, its academic programs in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, and the vision of the university in enhancing cooperation with national institutions in fields of common interest. Geographic information as a specialization of the present and future, and recognizes its importance in its overlap in many vital areas in Palestine.
The Researcher Aseel Kmal from Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at Arab American University, received the Scotland award for City Planning using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She presented her master's thesis at the University of Dundee, one of the best universities in the world. The title of her thesis was "Using Geographic Information Systems Techniques in Assessing the Possibility and Accessibility of Entering Green Places in Dundee".
Kmal concluded with a master's degree in excellence. Her research focused on the mechanism of employing geographic information systems in evaluating the accessibility and possibility of entering public gardens places and green spaces in Dundee city for the sake of self-recreation, reducing stress and maintaining the mental and physical health of the residents of the region.
