The Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University held a workshop for the Tesla project funded by both the European Union and Erasmus Plus, with the participation of Arab American university, Istiqlal University which is the Project Manager, Polytechnic University, Al-Quds Open University, Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra, and Polytechnic in Romanian Bucharest from Europe.
TESLA project is a capacity building project that aims at integrating virtual reality technology into education process in Palestinian higher education sector. The project includes a series of activities with European training for developing scenarios of educational materials in Palestinian universities. In addition to many technical training workshops for engineers and programmers to develop educational programs for Students using virtual reality technology.
The University participated in the specialized summer school, which was organized at University of Flensburg, Germany, entitled "Democracy and Islam", where the school hosts academics and professors in related disciplines, and offers academic lectures for postgraduate students. Where these lectures and papers will be published in a book.
The University participation represented by VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Zaki Saleh and VP for International Dr. Dalal Erekat, comes after the signing of a memorandum of cooperation and partnership between the two universities to encourage scientific research and the implementation of joint activities.
Dr. Dalal Erekat presented a paper entitled "from Diplomacy to Democracy in Palestine: A Success or Failure?". Whereas, Dr. Zaki Saleh presented a paper by a German researcher entitled "Solidarity".
A German delegation representing the political direction in boycotting Stuttgart, Germany visited Arab American University to build bilateral cooperation between the two parties. The Delegation was welcomed by the VP of Training Affairs Dr. Nizam Dhiab and Prof.Ayman Yousef.
Dr. Dhiab welcomed the guest and gave them a brief explanation about the university, its establishment and its academic programs in all levels doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees, as he mentioned the importance of developing partnerships and cooperation with various institutions locally or on international levels as part of the university’s vision and goals.
The Faculty of IT and Engineering at AAUP organizes Technology & Engineering Day- The 10th, which aims to present students achievements and projects inform of specialized institutions and companies in IT & Engineering sector, to enhance competition among students.
The activities started with an opening ceremony, attended by VP of Training Affairs Dr. Nizam Dhiab and Under-Secretary of the Minister of Communications and IT Eng. Jamil Zagharneh, Deputy Governor of Jenin Kamal Abu-AlRub, Head of Engineers Union Eng. Samir Rimawi and Dean of Faculty of IT and Engineering Dr. Mohammad Hamarsheh.
The head of the Palestinian Basketball Federation Mr. Ibrahim Habash, has announced that the AFC recognized the basketball court at the Sports hall in Jenin Campus, the “Home Stadium” to be the only it is the only national “home stadium” for the national Fedayeen team. Where it will hold all the matches of Fedayeen team of the sixth group, which will also include the Palestine team, the Jordanian teams, Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka team next November.
He added, We at the Palestinian Basketball Federation have worked with the AFC to recognize the basketball court at AAUP as a national home stadium for the Palestinian national team. As it has all the international standards adopted by the AFC, and stressed that the Palestinian Federation has met the requirements of AFC.
With participation of 30 couches from different West Bank governorates, Palestinian Volleyball Federation officially opened its International first-level volleyball championship at Arab American University, hosted by the international volleyball expert, Mr. Mohammad Khalil.
The opening was attended by Fathi Imour, the university’s PR Manager, Mr. Adnan Abu- Farha, Chairman of the Palestine Association Competitions Committee, and Mr. Oday Daraghmeh, lecturer and Director of sports facilities.
MBA graduates, a joint master program between AAUP & Indiana University, announce the establishment of a Union to follow up on their affairs, during a ceremony organized by the graduates at University campus in Ramallah.
The ceremony was attended by the Academic Advisor Prof. Walid Deeb, the Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu Libdeh, the Administration Manger of the University Campus in Ramallah Mr. Mohammed Sabaaneh, in addition to a group of academic members who teach MBA program, and MBA graduates along with current students.
The Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center (PCRSC) at AAUP in Ramallah campus hosted a lecture entitled “Upcoming European Elections and their Effect on European Policies towards the Palestinian Case”. The director of the (PCRSC) Mrs. Rula Shahwan began the lecture by expressing the importance of this meeting and its consistency with the center’s strategic plan of hosting lecturers for various topics in political and analytical talks that benefits graduate students and the local community.
The lecture was given by Director of Konrad Adenauer in Palestine Mr. Marc Frings, and the European Studies Specialist Dr. Amjad Abu Al Izz. Mr. Frings introduced The European Parliament elections explaining the ways in which 751 representatives are elected and seats are distributed based on the population of each country in Europe. He proceeded to speak about the privileges the European Union provides its citizens, the importance of spreading European unity and encouraging the European public to participate in facing the rise of populist parties that challenge the European integration.
Bank of Palestine and Arab American University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support PhD program in Business as part of its contribution to support higher education. The memorandum of understanding was signed at the headquarters of the Bank of Palestine's in Ramallah, in the presence of Mr. Rushdi Al-Ghalayini General Manger of BOP and Mr. Faleh Abu Arrah, Vice President of Financial and Administrative Affairs from AAUP.
In the agreement terms, the Bank will provide special financial support to Ph.D. Business students at Arab American University. Where this program has excellent educational features specially in applying quantitative and qualitative research methods in the field of business as an in-depth knowledge and understanding of research and applications in main business areas, this Ph.D. program will enable the graduate to apply the outcomes with either an academic or industry focus.
The Hassib Sabbagh IT Center for Excellence at Arab American University the ceremony for finishing the program "Enhancing the Skills of Leading Girls and strengthening their Economic Opportunities", which was implemented in cooperation with INJAZ institution, the Canadian government and the Ministry of Education.
The aim of this competition was to focus on the leadership skills of the students and to empower them, in order to develop their entrepreneurial abilities and have the ability to choose the right career path, thus enhancing economic opportunities and helping them to integrate in the labor market.
