The Dean of Admission and Registration at Arab American University Dr. Hazem Khanfar, participated in the thirty-eighth conference of the Arab Organization for Admissions and Registration in Universities in Arab Countries, which was hosted by Sulaimani Polytechnic University in Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The President of Arab American University Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, welcomed a delegation of Principles from schools in the 48 Palestinian territories, where they took an insight of the university’s academic development in many disciplines, discussed the new system of Bagrut.
The delegation included the principle of Al-Amal Secondary School in Al-Mashhad, Nazareth district Dr. Said Suleiman, the principle of Al-Shamila Secondary School in Shafa Amro Mr. Jalal Hammadi, and the principle of Al-Andalus Secondary School in Baqa Al-Gharbia Mr. Ashraf Maqaldih.
During the meeting, Prof. Abu Zuhri welcomed the delegation and presented the academic development in many of the disciplines according to needs of the 48 Palestinian territories. He also explained the university's specializations in bachelor's, master's and doctorate.
The President of Arab American University Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri and the president of University of Jordan Prof. Abed Al-Karem Alqudah have signed a memorandum of understanding for accepting Palestinian students to study at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan, in the presence of a Professor from the faculty of medicine Dr. Maher Al-Jarbawi and PR Manager Mr. Fathi Amour.
According to this memorandum, Arab American University will accept students who wish to study Medical Doctor ( MD ) at the beginning of the academic year 2019/2020, according to the admission requirements of the University of Jordan. The students will study the pre-clinical courses for one year at Arab American University, then the student will study the second year at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan within the international program to obtain a doctorate in human medicine from the University of Jordan.
The Deanship of Student Affairs and the Department of Arabic Language and Information at the Faculty of Arts organized a seminar about combating violence against women under the title "Hidden Tales" in cooperation with the Freedom Theater.
The seminar was attended by Ms. Juanna Al-Hafi, from Students' Affairs dept and Dr. Hanadi Dweikat, which teaches Public Relations course and the Deputy Director of Freedom Theater Imad Abu Hantash,, co-director of the paly “Ahna Hon” Ahmed Al-Tubasi, and Ms. Ranen Audih.
The seminar started with a televised play entitled "We are also here…… Palestine women", which reflected the reality of women in Palestine. After the presentation, there was an open discussion about the reality of Palestinian women living in Palestine.
Arab American university had finished its preparations to host the journalist Ola Al-Fares, in an open interview for its students and local community about her strong impact on social media, and her successes and career story, on the 29th of this month.
Ola Al Fares is a well-known Arab journalist who lived and grew up in Jordan. She worked in a number famous Arab, regional and international channels. She was named the youngest Arabic TV presenter when she worked for MBC, where she was only 18 years old. she had many tweets and opinions for the benefit of the Palestinian case and Jerusalem. She also supported the role of building the future of the Arab youth.
The Vice President Office for Planning and Academic Quality Affairs hosted the representative of Erasmus Program in Palestine Dr. Nidal Jayousi, in the presence of academic and administrative bodies and students to introduce projects funded by the institution and the opportunity of academic exchanges with European universities.
The VP for Planning and Quality Affairs Dr. Muath Sabha opened the meeting and welcomed the audience, as he assured the importance of this introductory meeting to present the main projects funded by Erasmus, Pointing out the importance of cooperation with institutions for academic development and scientific research.
The University hosted the Media and Communication Advisor in the Negotiations Affairs Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization Samar Awadallah in a lecture organized by the Office Community Affairs at the University. The lecture aimed students from democracy and human rights course.
Awadallah presented a historical view of the centennial of Balfour Declaration mentioning the Nakba in 1948, the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1965, the launching of the Palestinian revolution and the 1967 war, the first Intifada and subsequent Oslo agreement, the rise of the Extreme Israeli Right in governing and fighting against peace in all its forms. Assuring the importance of taking advantage of past experiences and emphasizing our options through peaceful resistance.
AAUP organized an open day for students of the 48 territories holding “Bigarut” certificates, to introduce them to the academic programs of the university. With the attendance of VP, their assistants, deans, and faculty and administrative members.
He pointed out that the university aims to help students to plan for their next stage in their scientific journey and use the energies to make the right decision, explaining that today is an opportunity for students to see what the university offers from programs and benefit from the guidance staff to facilitate the task of choosing their study.
He ended his speech by saying that success is the achievement of professional science on one hand and build the personality, leadership and communication skills on the other hand.
The universities – AAUP, Palestine Polytechnic, and Al-Quds celebrate the launch of Joint Ph.D. Program in Information Technology Engineering the first of its kind in Palestine, which was recently accredited by the National Commission for Accreditation and Quality at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The ceremony which was hosted by the Arab American University campus in Ramallah, was attended by the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Sabri Sidem, President of Arab American University Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, President of Al Quds University Prof. Imad Abu Kishk, President of Palestine Polytechnic University Prof. Imad Al Khatib, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Allam Mousa, The Minister of Jerusalem Dr. Adnan al-Husseini, and the Chairman of the Higher Council for Creativity Prof. Adnan Samar, And Minister of Local Government Dr.
The Ambassador of Venezuela to the state of Palestine Mr. Maher Taha visited the University campus in Ramallah and was introduced to its academic programs in master's and doctorate degrees, as the both sides discussed ways of joint cooperation.
The Venezuelan Ambassador was welcomed by the chairman of boards of Directors Dr. Yusuf Asfour, the University's President Prof. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, the Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu Libdeh, and the Vice President for International Relations Dr. Dalal Erekat.
