Some of the Arab American University students organized a volunteering campaign to clean the public garden of Al-Swaitat area and make the visitors of the area more aware about the environment. Dr. Nour Al-Deen AbulRub- the vice-president for the Academic Affairs and other faculty members participated at the campaign as well.
The sports’ activities department at the students’ affairs deanship at the university enclosed the chess championship at the university. This championship is part of the preparations of the championship for the Palestinian universities that will be held at the Arab American University campus this month with the participant of all the Palestinian Universities. Mahmoud Saif-Aldeen from the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences got the first place at the championship while Najeeb Abulrub from the Faculty of Dentistry got the second place.
Duha Beddo- a student at the Applied Mathematics Masters at the Arab American University discussed her thesis. At the end of the discussion, the committee approved on her thesis and gave Duha her masters’ degree.
The Arab American University hosted Maan agency to film the first stage of the auditions for the participants at “Al-Ra’es” program. Maan agency has chosen the AAUJ campus as a place for one of the episodes of the program which is considered one of the best programs in Palestine and the Arab world in general in its second season. Participants came from all over the West Bank and the 48 lands to compete each other for the president position at the program.
The Arab American University received an academic delegation from the German Neubrandenburg University for the Applied Sciences that visited the university to discuss means of cooperation between both universities. Professor Steve Crehmer, Professor Robert Northof and Professor Sabeen Hofman were among the delegation, and in reception were Dr. Mufid Qassom- the vice-president for the International Affairs, and Dr. Nitham Thiab- the vice-president for the Community Affairs.
The graduate affairs department at the Arab American University organized a workshop under the name “partnership for development” that is managed and implemented by 21 institutions in the West Bank and Gaza strip. This workshop aims to choose students who are interested in implementing community projects as they will support the entrepreneurs to be able to implement their projects successfully.
The Arab American University’s students participated at the olive picking at Al-Aqaba village – Tubas as volunteering work in order to provide services to the local community.
The Board of Trustees at the Arab American University approved during their regular meeting at Ramallah on the honouring joining of Dr. Farida Irshaid and Eng. Abdel-Haleem Al-Mowahed to the board. This joining is considered a quality addition to the board of trustees as they both have academic and administrative experiences that will contribute positively in the superiority of the university locally and internationally.
Under the auspices of Professor Ali Zaidan- the University President, and the presence of the vice-presidents, the assistants, the deans, the administrative and academic staff and the parents, the Arab American University celebrates the summer semester graduation that contained students who graduated from all the faculties. Dr. Noor-Aldeen Abul-Rub- the vice-president for the Academic Affairs started the ceremony by appreciating the university’s goals and missions to build a generation of wisdom and knowledge, and to prepare students for the market.
The Arab American University’s council holds its regular meeting to discuss the annual report of the year 2013/2014 and many other academic, student and university issues.
