Students of the Arab American University, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment Quality Authority celebrated the Palestinian Environment National Day by planting trees and plants at different areas of the university. Mr. Omar Bzour- the Administrative Manager at the university indicated that the goal of encouraging students to participate is to raise the volunteering work culture in them and direct their awareness to taking responsibility.
The Arab American University represented by Dr. Medhat Hamad from the Faculty of law participated at the sixth international conference that was organized and held at Al-Najah National University under the name: “Drugs: Reasons to take, effects and treatment from Islamic, social and legal perspective”. Dr. Hamad presented a research paper under the title of “Drugs punishment: from a Shar’i perspective”, he discussed the bad effects of taking drugs and the most common drugs that are used and the reasons for taking.
The Arab American University organized TOFEL (ITP) that was divided into 4 sections: listening, speaking, reading and writing. TOFEL is one of the most accredited tests that most educational and work institutions considers as admission criteria, and the Continuous Education Centre at the Arab American University provides specialized courses with qualified trainees to prepare students to get satisfying scores at the different international tests.
The Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences organized a symposium about “Banking services from the Arab Bank to University students” that was provided by the Arab Bank staff. The symposium aimed to educate students and raise their banking awareness concerning the services that the bank provides. Dr. Sharif AbuKarsh- the Dean of the Faculty said that the university always seeks to empower its relations with the Arabian and Palestinian different institutions.
The Arab American University celebrated the signing of paid training contracts between 28 students of the university and some of the Palestinian companies. This action came as part of the cooperation between the Graduates Affairs Department as part of the office of V.P for Community Affairs and the International Youth Institution.
The science team at the Arab American University participated at the Second International Conference for Science and Nano Technology at Al-Najah National University. The team included professors and students of the physics department headed by Professor Atef Qasrawi. Dr. Qasrawi said that the goal of this participation is to show and present the scientific achievements that the team prepared and to show the university’s capabilities in the nanotechnology fields. Also graduates got the chance to see the mechanisms of the participation at scientific conferences.
The Arab American University organized with collaboration with Muftah Institution a workshop about “the Right to Elect and the Candidacy Age”, in order to raise the awareness of students about the importance of participating in elections. Dr. Nizam Thiab- the V.P for Community Affairs said that this activity comes to enhance the university’s philosophy in encouraging students to communicate with the local community and provide people with needed services.
A delegation from the German university, the University of Freiburg visited the Arab American University to see the different university faculties, buildings and academic programs. In their reception was Dr. Ayman Yousef- the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Mr. Raid AbuBaker- a Public Relations Employee. The delegation included academics, politicians, union members and supporters to the Palestinian cause who visited different places at the West Bank to see the live style that Palestinian people are living.
Dr. Reziq Samoudi- the International General Law professor at the Faculty of Law at the Arab American University was chosen to participate at the International Moot Court “Jesoub” in Washington that represented an imitation to International justice Court- Lahai. Dr. Reziq will represent Palestine at this huge event and he will be a judge in 6 pleadings that contains participation of 12 countries from all over the world. Dr. Reziq said that this is a great deal for the Faculty of Law of the Arab American University that started to participate and compete internationally.
Students’ Affairs Deanship at the Arab American University organized a poetry symposium for the Palestinian poet, Marwan Mkhawal. Mr. Mohammad Kmail said that the philosophy of the university is to encourage students to the extracurricular activities that help in developing their personalities, enhancing their skills and contributes more in their connection with the local community.
