The Department of alumni affairs at the AAU university hosted "The Day of Employment for the Reach Company ". This was in the presence of human resources staff in the company, with the participation of dozens of university graduates and undergraduates. The aim of this activity is to give the graduates an opportunity to have an idea about the local labor market needs, as well as developing their skills and experience, which would qualify them to enter the Palestinian labor market.
Additionally, the Deanship of Student Affairs at the University organized a marathon for athlete, and was entitled "Together against drugs,". The marathon was in collaboration with the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy. This came in line with a session that had been holding for the students, about the fight against drugs, for three days. The marathon set off from the campus toward Al Zababda country, in which the university students from different disciplines, and several volunteers participated.
Arab American University (AAU) hosted a lecture on the Irish experience in conflict resolution, at its headquarter in Ramallah. The lecture was presented by a professor from Emory University in the United States, in cooperation with an Irish researcher at Mainoot University, Gary Mason. The lecture was given to students in Conflict Resolution and Development Master program, within Comparative Studies in the Negotiating Processes and Peace-building course.
Dr. Erekat, started the lecture with a speech, in which she welcomed the guest professor, and talked about his academic and research biography. She also displayed the aim of the lecture which was to acknowledge the students in the Comparative Studies in the Negotiating Processes and Peace-building course with the Irish experience in resolving the conflict, and to connect the Irish experience with the Palestinian one. All in all came in line with bringing down the terms, concepts and theories through a comparative study of the two cases, the Irish and Palestinian.
Arab American University (AAU) organized an academic day in collaboration with Brandenburg University in Germany. This aimed to promote the national and cultural identity in the academic curriculum of the university. The academic day was held with the participation of Al-Najah National University, Al-Quds University and a group of academics and students, who were from the Arab American Universitiy of Jenin, Brandenburg University, Al-Najah National University, and Al-Quds University.
The academic day aims to enrich the discussion of the intellectual debate about the identity and the Palestinian contexts that it belongs to, especially the social, educational, and academic aspects. It also spots the role of the Palestinian universities in general, and the Arab American University in particular, in strengthening the belonging to the national and cultural identity. This enhancement can be achieved through the academic syllabus, and the contribution of the academics and the staff of the university.
The Chairman of the Arab Joint List Member of Parliament (MP) Ayman Odeh said that the Arab American University is a pride testimony for the Palestinian people, and a purely Palestinian National Project, and is one of the prestigious institutions that embrace the Palestinians from different parts.
This was during his visit to the Arab American University, which hosted him in a seminar entitled, "Palestinian identity and belonging," and to meet with university students.
During which it hosted the Shari’a Court Judge of Jenin
The Faculty of Law at the Arab American University organized for its students a seminar under the title of "Judiciary Shari'a ... its Provisions and Foundations of Application”, during which it hosted the Shari’a Court judge of Jenin Sheikh Saleh Mar’ee.
The symposium aims at bridging the gap between theoretical subjects and practicality, and to take advantage from the experiences of the Shari’a judges’, and identify the provisions of 'Shari’a judiciary' and the foundations of its applications.
“Tamayaz” group in the Arab American University implemented several community activities in different areas of Jenin region, in order to increase awareness of the group to the importance of youth role.
The events included: coating the wall of Burkin Girls' Secondary School, painted lines of pedestrians in front of schools in the town of Burkin, and organizing a day of joy and fun for the primary third-grade students at Jalqamus Girls' Secondary School, and a recreational activity for the eighth-grade students at Deir Abu Da’eef Girls’ Secondary School.
In reference to the clamour that has been deployed and traded through the means of social communications and some other news sites on the issue of ending the services of a newly appointed teacher at the university, the Arab-American University Administration clarifies the following:
A video was posted on the social media for a student singing ‘Mawawil’ during the teacher’s lecture, while in turn the teacher was encouraging him and motivating the students to participate.
This action is contrary to the University regulations and instructions, and to the sanctity of the teaching process, since this lecture is dedicated for teaching the International Accounting Course, not for a popular ‘Zajal’ or vocals.
Student researcher in the Graduate School of the Arab American University Bara’ Mjalli Jamil Abu-Khadra discussed her Master’s thesis in applied Mathematics Program titled “Reverse Integration Coefficient for Systems Level Polynomial Independent Differential."
Researcher Abu-Khadra discussed an analytical study on the integration coefficient of polynomial independents systems, as well as its relationship with the integration coefficient for differential equations class, and addressing some aspects of the integration question, and its relationship with the reverse coefficient integration for the systems.
A meeting held for the definition of grants in the British universities
The Arab American University hosted a delegation from the British Council, who visited the university to hold a meeting with academics, with the aim to provide definition about the scholarships of the Council in British universities.
The visiting delegation included the Director of Examination Section and Public Relation of the British Council Mr. Imad Qashou’, the Administrator of Grants Department at the Council Ms. Mirna Qassis, and they were welcomed by the Acting Rector Dr. Nizam Diab, and Vice President for Planning and Development Affairs Dr. Osama Salama, and Director of Public Relations Department at the University Mr. Fathi E’mour.
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University reaped the second and fifth places in the entrepreneurial projects competition at its second session, which was organized by Creativity Foundation.
Two projects were selected from the university among the top five winning projects in the competition to be registered as emerging companies.
The projects that have been selected are the project "Storyboardat" winning second place in the contest, which was under the supervision of Head of the IT department in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Mohammed Mar’ei, with the participation of the students: Mohammed Naji Hanaysheh, Aseel Abu Arra, Safa’ Massad, and the representative of the private sector Professor Ahmed Nasser.
